Just a note to thank you and all at Melville Island Adventures for making our stay a treat of a lifetime. For mad keen fishermen like Mac and I you provided an outstanding fishing holiday experience, one we will never forget.

For fun on the way to the islands we wrote a list of 12 fish we hoped to catch and specified what size. Amazingly we caught 9 of the 12 species, including Spanish mackerel to 12kg, Black jewfish to 118 cm, Brassy Trevally 10 kg, Fingermark over 50 cm, Barramundi to 68cm, Queenfish to 60cm, Coral trout > 50 cm and Saratoga to 45cm. Mac also lost a Queenfish >100 cm and a Threadfin salmon estimated at 125cm after very good fights. We are coming back to try to complete the list that now only includes Longtail tuna, Cobia and landing a Threadfin salmon over 100 cm.

Our guide Bommy was amazing, taking us the where the fish were at the right time and helping us refine our techniques to maximise the results. Nothing was to much trouble and he was focussed on making every day as enjoyable as possible.
The best sessions of the many great times were the three Black jewfish (118, 2x109 cm), Spaniards on poppers in the blue water where they shot out of the water with the biggest jump 10 feet in the air, the 80 Barra from Goose creek with 25 from one tree and casting for Barra and Threadfin in 40cm of water on the flats at low tide. All were exciting and unforgettable experiences.
We found the scenery and wildlife constantly fascinating with Goose creek being a highlight, amazingly diverse mangroves, deep dark water full of fish, water buffalo, beautiful birds including sea eagles and huge crocs to 4.5m lying on the banks. Bommy was great at pointing out the wildlife as we toured around.
When the fishing was done the warm hospitality at the lodge was exceptional. The facilities and food were first class with chef cooking the Coral trout and other fish we caught and and a range of other tasty and generous meals.
Enjoying the socialising with the other guests, guides and other staff was a treat as we compared fishing stories and planned the next day over a few drinks.
Meeting Jess the junior fishing guide was also a pleasure and symbolic of the close relationship with the local indigenous community.
It was sad to finish our special holiday but we left with the conviction we would be back.
Thanks for making our holiday so enjoyable. Thanks too to Bommy, Sharon, Damo Johnno and Paul who were so welcoming, friendly such an important of the experience.
